Questions, answered

Know before you launch.

The details behind the minute, the Mac, and your files.

What power and internet connections support the Macs?

Solar generation with battery backup, plus a utility grid connection. If the grid fails, the Macs keep running on battery. Two independent internet connections — a primary wired line with automatic failover to a cellular backup. During a failover, connections keep working but may be slower. Rentals are moving to a colocation data center. No date has been set.

Read the service commitments in the Terms.

When does billing start and stop?

Dedicated rentals are for development, CI and testing and prepay the first day (24 hours). Exclusive access begins at successful handover, then continues per started minute at the listed rate after prepaid coverage ends. The pricing page also shows the daily continuation cost and any available prepaid monthly price. Finishing early schedules release at the first-day deadline; access remains yours until then. Longer commitments are not charged another first-day fee. Failed preparation is reversed. Closing your browser does not end the rental. Review your quote for external storage and all charges.

What does ‘Set aside’ mean?

It is your own credit reserved for one rental, not an additional fee. Launch needs the initial 24-hour or longer reservation price, plus the continuation credit shown in your quote. Set-aside credit remains in your balance but is unavailable for other Macs. It funds usage if available credit runs out; unused amounts return to available credit when released.

How do reservations work?

An enabled reservation buys a fixed period beginning when the Mac first runs. One day is 24 hours; one month is 30 days. It does not renew automatically. At expiry, the Mac continues by the minute at the fallback rate shown before purchase. Early deletion does not refund unused reserved time. Review the quote for the exact total and included external storage.

What happens if my credit runs out?

The rental first uses its runtime credit set aside, with a notice of the deadline. Once funded runtime ends, the Dedicated Mac and all its files are permanently deleted. New credit first refills depleted set-aside amounts, starting with the earliest deadline.

What happens during a provider-caused outage?

Confirmed provider-caused unavailability receives a prorated wallet credit for affected prepaid time. If the Mac cannot recover, the rental ends and unused prepaid time is credited to your wallet. These are account credits, not automatic card refunds. The original exclusive-allocation deadline still applies before the Mac can be rented again.

How will I connect?

SSH access is available with a host-key fingerprint. Desktop sharing is planned after datacenter colocation. Use an SSH key when possible.

What happens between Dedicated Mac customers?

Each Dedicated rental uses a fresh admin account. Reuse requires verified targeted restoration with a report attached; protected or unexplained differences quarantine the host. The account is deleted, but system state outside the targeted roots is not restored. An optional deep audit adds a broader report when Full Disk Access is enabled.

Is external storage a backup or a permanent account drive?

Neither. Compatible external storage is encrypted and tied to the rental. It is deleted when released or when you delete the Mac. It is not a backup, shared storage between hosts, or a drive that stays with your account. Its cost appears in the quote; storage added later is billed by the minute unless a new reservation explicitly includes it.

Can I pay with USDC?

USDC on Base and Ethereum is part of the payment design, alongside card payments through Stripe. Use only the payment methods currently enabled in Billing. When USDC is enabled, 1 USDC adds $1 of credit after the required confirmations; network fees are separate. Check the exact supported asset, network, and address before sending. Other tokens or networks do not automatically credit, and pending deposits cannot fund a rental. USDC transactions are public, not anonymous.

Does adding credit guarantee availability?

No. Adding credit funds your balance; it does not reserve inventory. Price and availability are checked again at launch. If capacity changes, your completed payment remains account credit and you can choose another available configuration.

Do you track what I do in my workspace?

The Privacy Policy explains which account, payment, and service records are needed to operate rentals, how we handle rental data, and how to contact us about privacy.

What support and uptime are promised?

Support hours, response targets, and service-level commitments have not been published. Do not assume round-the-clock support or a guaranteed response time. The status page shows live service checks; the status of your individual Mac is in your account.

Coming later: virtual Macs

Virtual Macs are planned for a later release. The offering will appear after a VM-mode host is enrolled and the shared-hardware path is ready for customers.
